Adapted from Matthew 11:25-30
Jesus exclaimed, “I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children. Yes, Father, for that is what it pleased you to do. Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, just as no one knows the Father
except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will
give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.”

A Huge Thank You!
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make our Summer Fair such a fantastic success. Whether you volunteered your time, donated prizes, ran a stall, helped with set-up or tidy-up, or simply came along to support the event, we are incredibly grateful.

It was wonderful to see so many families and members of our school community enjoying the afternoon together. The fair had a fantastic atmosphere, and it was lovely to see so many smiling faces. Thank you for helping to make it such a memorable event.

We still have some drinks left over from the fair, so these will be available to purchase at Sports Day next week while stocks last.
Thank you once again for your continued support of our school – we couldn’t do it without you!

On Thursday Year 1 had an exciting visit from Horsham Museum who bought in some dinosaur fossils and bones for the children to explore. The children were very excited to share their dinosaur knowledge and find out more about some famous fossil hunters. The children were very well behaved and had a great afternoon!

Good afternoon, Today I have published my annual report on Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services. As I enter my final year as Children’s Commissioner, one thing is clear: before we make decisions that affect young people, we need to listen to young people.Children’s mental health is no exception. The number of children with a referral to mental health services has reached over a million – about 1 in 10 children – almost double the 564,000 in 2018-19.We know there are still many more young people whose voices deserve to be heard. I would therefore be grateful if you could continue promoting my national survey, The Big Future, to pupils, parents and carers over the coming weeks, and encourage as many young people as possible to take part before it closes: https://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/thebigfuture.Teachers, parents and carers can respond on behalf of young children, or those who may need support to access the survey. Many schools have successfully increased participation through form time, tutor periods and assemblies. To support this, I have created a range of resources, including an introductory video, lesson materials and FAQs, all available on my website.I am also inviting schools and colleges to nominate Student Champions to help promote the survey among their peers. Champions who generate particularly high levels of participation will receive a formal letter of thanks from my office, recognising their contribution to amplifying young people’s voices. This recognition can also be included in personal statements, CVs and future applications. In addition, the schools and colleges with the highest response rates will be invited to attend my final Festival of Childhood, celebrating the voices and contributions of children and young people from across England. Thank you once again for your commitment to ensuring that children’s voices are heard. Together, we can make sure this is the strongest and most representative picture of childhood possible. With best wishes, Dame Rachel de SouzaChildren’s Commissioner |
Free School Meals – Update
The Department for Education (DfE) is significantly expanding Free School Meals (FSM) eligibility in England from the start of the 2026/2027 academic year, making all pupils in households receiving Universal Credit entitled to a free school meal, regardless of their annual income. This means that any family currently in receipt of a FSM will need to reapply to gain eligibility for next academic year, and it is expected that many more families will also be eligible for the first time for FSM if parents are in receipt of the following benefits:
- Universal Credit
- support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
A pupil is only eligible to receive a free school meal where both:
- a claim for this support has been made
- their eligibility has been verified by the school where they are enrolled or by the local authority.
If you think you may be eligible (and if you are on Univeral Credit, you most likely are eligible), please contact the School Office for a Registration Form for Free School Meals and we will be happy to help you apply.
We will be in touch with more updates shortly.
