Adapted from John 4:5-15.19-26.39-42, The 3rd Sunday of Lent, Year A

Jesus came to the Samaritan town called Sychar and, tired by the journey, sat straight down at Jacob’s well. A Samaritan woman came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” She was taken by surprise because Jews and Samaritans rarely spoke to each other. She replied, “What? You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink of water when Jews and Samaritans don’t have anything to do with each other?” Jesus replied: “If you only knew what God is offering and who it is that is saying to you: ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have been the one to ask, and he would have given you living water.” “You have no bucket, sir,” she answered, “and the well is deep: how could you get this living water?” Jesus replied: “Whoever drinks this water will get thirsty again; but anyone who drinks the water that I shall give will never be thirsty again: the water that I shall give will turn into a spring inside them, welling up to eternal life.” “Sir,” said the woman, “give me some of that water, so that I may never get thirsty again ”

Thank you everyone…!!

To Our Families

Thank you for your continued prayers and support this week. Our school is a partnership, and we felt the strength of our community behind us throughout the inspection period. It was very intense, but our parents, children and staff rose magnificently to the occasion. Everyone involved articulated their love of the school, their faith life and our community beautifully. We could not be more grateful and proud of everyone.

We know you are eager to hear the results! Once the final report is moderated and ready, we will share the full details with you.

Thank you again to everyone for making our school such a special place to be.

Many thanks

Mrs Farr

Year 3 Tea Tasting

Year 3 did tea tasting this week which was linked to the new book in class ‘Cloud Tea Monkeys’.

Racquet Sports Festival!

On Wednesday the 4th of March a group of children from year 5 and 6 attended a Racquet Sports event at The Bridge.

They were able to try a range of activities  including Tennis, Badminton, Squash and Table Tennis. They all had a fantastic time and their behaviour was amazing!

Well done. A big thank you to Brad and Mrs Christmas for accompanying the children to this event.

Happy World Book Day from us all at St John’s! We had a wonderful day, kicking things off with our Costume Parade and each class engaged in a World Book Day themed activity in the afternoon!

Fairtrade Colour Fundraising Day: Thursday 19th March!

On Thursday 19th March, to support Fairtrade, please can your child wear any combination of the Fairtrade logo colours of blue, black or green, and bring in £2 per child for Fairtrade. If they have PE that day, please wear comfortable, suitable clothes and trainers.

The children will be learning in an Assembly the week before, all about Fairtrade and how it supports farmers and their families in developing countries all over the world. Fairtrade was founded by CAFOD (Catholic Agency For Overseas Development), and as a school we have been supporting Fairtrade for many years now.    Thanks in advance for all your support!

International Storytelling / Pyjama Day on Friday 13th March!

We are very excited to have our International Storytelling Day on Friday 13th March! Children can wear pyjamas or onesies (with normal school shoes and bring a coat) and please donate £2 (per child) towards new reading resources for the school. Please bring your £2 to your class teacher.

The children will hear the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’ in different languages, with our Young Interpreters, and some parents and staff as storytellers. If any parents who speak another language would like to help, please contact Mrs Curtis via the school office. The day will celebrate the many different languages we have in our school.

For children who have PE that day, please can they bring their PE kit to change into. They can wear trainers that day. Thank you.
