Matt. 5:17-37 (the 6th Sunday of Ordinary Time)

Jesus said to his disciples, “Do not imagine that I have come to destroy what the Law or the Prophets taught. No, I have come to make them complete – to show you what they meant. I tell you truly, until heaven and earth disappear, not one dot, not one little stroke of a pen, shall disappear from the Law until its purpose is achieved. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practises and teaches these commands, will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

Children’s Mental Health week

To show our solidarity and participation, the children came to school wearing green or yellow on Monday in support of Children’s Mental Health week. The theme this year is “A Place To Be” which encourages children to explore where they feel they belong, aiming to strengthen relationships, build confidence, and ensure no child faces mental health issues alone. With many thanks for your donations to a worthy cause, we made a gran total of £126.23!

We would also like to highlight the following West Sussex website, where you can find support and resources for parents and carers: https://www.westsussexmind.org/help_and_support/specialist-services/parenting-support

On Wednesday the 11th of February eight children from years 5 and 6 competed in the annual Horsham schools Swimming Gala.

They swam in a combination of events including individual races such as 25m freestyle, 25m backstroke, 25m breaststroke and 50m freestyle. There were also multiple 4x25m relay races.

All the children tried so hard and did themselves proud. It is a competitive gala, and they handled their nerves extremely well.

The standard of swimming was very high from across all eight schools that took part.

Our children were fantastic, encouraging and supporting one another as well as doing their best.

After all 12 events were completed the scores were in…..

St John’s came an impressive 2nd place overall.

I am so delighted for the children. It was a fantastic afternoon.

Well done children! I am super proud of all of you!

A BIG thank you to Mrs Burke for accompanying me and the children and to Mrs Henly for supporting our children last week when we went for a practise swim.

And thank you to all our parents who came to cheer the children on.

Mrs Clough

Safer Internet Day

We took the opportunity on Tuesday to spark discussions with the children to celebrate ‘Safer Internet Day’. The DfE are launching a new website on 16 Feb to support families and encourage regular conversations about what they’re seeing online, asking simple questions, like “who shared this” and “why?” Please see the website: Kids Online Safety
