Curriculum

At St John’s Catholic Primary School we have been modifying our curriculum to offer a broad, knowledge-rich, progressively sequenced curriculum, where children revisit and reinforce previous learning as they progress through the school, while adding ever more complex and sophisticated learning. For each subject we have developed an Intent, Implementation and Impact statement. These reflect the vision we have for the subject, how we will teach it and what the outcomes will be for each subject. These are personalised to our school and will develop over time to reflect the needs of our children and our community.
We have also created long term plans for each Key Stage 1 and 2 class to reflect the areas of learning across each of their subjects, although these are subject to adaptation to reflect the needs of the children in each class.
These are supported by half termly curriculum overviews sent out by the class teacher towards the beginning of each half term. These overviews add more detail around the children’s learning, as well as ways in which they can be supported at home.

As ever, if you have any questions about your child’s learning please contact the class teacher in the first instance, or Mrs Farr.
