Physical Education and Sports Provision at St. John’s

As with most primary schools we have received Sports Premium funding  to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of the Physical Education and sport that we offer at St. John’s.

We are awaiting the next Sports Premium grant – our plan is to invest some of this in our work with Albion in the Community. AITC have provided staff CPD in the past, this year they will be working with the new P.E. lead to ensure that she is able not only to deliver high-quality P.E. lessons, but is also able to lead this subject strongly. She will be working with AITC to create new planning for the school with the focus on physical literacy and developing skills.

The grant will also enable us to develop our ability to participate at local and regional level in a variety of sports. Currently there has been limited capacity to do this and we are looking at ways that the grant could help us to overcome previous barriers.

Our Current Sport's Premium

We have spent out current Sport's Premium on a running track to enable all our children to undertake the Daily Mile. It was fitted in June, cost £12,000 and was a wonderful investment. The children are now moving for 15 minutes a day and we are registered 'Daily Mile' school

We have a running club attended by many children across the school and strongly believe that our spending of the Sport's Premium in this was fully meets the guidelines of:
- developing or adding to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers
- making improvements now that will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

Here are some photographs of the children and their track.
